Nightly

I never use my Smartphone after 8pm. It just sits on my desk burning power unnecessarily. And, though Smartphones are lasting longer on a charge than they used to, they'll last longer still if you shut them off at night. But it's a pain to have to remember to do that.

So I wrote Nightly to shut my phone off for me every night. The program doesn't turn it back on in the morning. You have to do that yourself. It's got separate shutdown times for weeknights, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The intended use (shutting the device off) really only works on Smartphone, since PocketPCs typically can't be fully shut off. However, some of my beta testers asked for the ability to reboot instead of shut down. So I added that for them. You can use the reboot feature on PocketPC if you'd like. That won't save you any battery power, but it might help your stability.

This program uses .net, so it requires a Windows Mobile 2003 or later.

This program is freeware, but if you give it to anyone, you must also give them an unchanged copy of the included readme file. You may not make money in any way from distributing this program unless you first get consent from me. If you really want to "pay" me in some way, get three friends to start reading my free science fiction serial, The Daily Dose.

Nightly for Windows Mobile

This is the program. It will run on both Smartphone and PocketPC from WM 2003 and later.
